Hi. We are The Belmont Goats. Portland’s nonprofit resident herd, offering an oasis of rural community amidst the built urban environment.

Here you can submit a booking inquiry either for a group visit to our site, or for an invitation for some of our goats to come to your community or neighborhood event.

You now can also schedule a time to come get some of our barn muck for compost/fertilizer/mulch/whatever.

Visit Us

This is to book a group visit to our site. If you are looking to invite us to come to you, please use the Invite Us button instead.

If you are coming to visit the herd during our regular gate hours (Saturday or Sunday between 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, or Tuesday or Wednesday between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM), no booking is required.

We welcome many different sizes and types of groups, and have hosted anything from bike tours to city planning conferees to elder care outings to photography clubs to preschool classes.

All group visit booking requests must be confirmed by us after we check staff availability. Unless you receive a confirmation, your visit has not been booked! This form only starts the booking inquiry process.

Group visits are free. As with visits during our regular, public gate hours, we welcome any donations. Your contributions help keep the herd happy, healthy, and publicly accessible.

The Belmont Goats is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Oregon, EIN 46-5038819.

In your message, please include the date and time you'd like to visit; an estimate of how many people are in your group; and whether your group is adults, children, or both.

Invite Us

We have temporarily disabled inviting us to offsite events due to logistical hurdles. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Invite Us

This is to invite us to come to you. If you are looking to book a group visit to our site, please use the Visit Us button instead.

Subject to staff scheduling and transportation logistics, a number of our goats are available to participate in your neighborhood or community event. Please note that we do not attend private functions.

We have attended many different types of events, from community parades to farmers markets to neighborhood picnics to school de-stressing days to street fairs.

All event booking requests must be confirmed by us after we check availability of staff and animal transport. Unless you receive a confirmation, our participation in your event has not been booked! This form only starts the booking inquiry process.

Our participation in offsite events is by sliding-scale donation. Your contributions help keep the herd happy, healthy, and publicly accessible.

Get Muck

Subject to staff scheduling, you now can make an appointment to pick up some of the results of our recently having mucked out the barn.

Our muck is a combination of bedding straw and goat manure, and due to the way we filled our compost bin the various layers are pretty much mixed together.

We do have a couple of pitchforks but only one wheelbarrow. We have no containers available; you will have to bring your own.

All event booking requests must be confirmed by us after we check staff availability. Unless you receive a confirmation, our participation in your muck pickup has not been booked! This form only starts the booking inquiry process.

Please note that, per our usual process every time we muck out the barn, we haven't neatly separated out different piles of, say, top layers of bedding straw from the bottom-most layers of stuff.

If you're looking for more of one thing than another, you're going to have to move the pile around as you go.

Sorry for any inconvenience; we did a full day of work mucking out the barn; you'll have to do a bit of work if you're after more of one material than another.

Muck pickups are by sliding-scale donation. Your contributions help keep the herd happy, healthy, and publicly accessible.

In your message, please include the date and time you'd like to come by and whether or not you have your own tools and equipment (e.g. pitchforks and wheelbarrows).

Thanks for your inquiry! Once we check into staff availability and logistics, we will get back to you to confirm or deny your request!
